APH - Bavaria and Saxony

Here you see Germany's Freistaaten (free states): Bavaria and Saxony. Actually there is one more, namely Thuringia. But he's not in the series and I don't want to make up OCs.
"Free state" has nothing to do with freedom or independence actually, even if Bavaria likes to make Germany think it does. It is only the old German word for "republic". When the countries turned from monarchy to republic, they could of course have called themselves "Republik" as well. But back then their archenemy France was already a république and the German countries didn't want to have anything in common with him, not even seven letters. So they came up with "Freistaat".

That was the intelligent part of my comment.

Usually I don't medle in other fans' projects and I hate being a Gscheithaferl (wisenheimer), but there are some things going on that keep bugging me. So this time is an exception.

I saw some really strange artworks about my country (Bavaria) and I keep wondering why some people want to draw/ write/ RP a country so badly when they obviously don't know anything about it.
PLEASE, please, please if you're not 100% sure, do some research! When I am unsure about my fanworks, I also ask people from the respective countries for help. It's no shame, but even a big fun. You get to know a lot of nice people that way.
Drawing Bavaria as a big eyed, innocent, princess-like girl (which he obviously is not in the original series! Considering Bavaria's history and the Bavarians' mindset even Nyotalia!Bavaria wouldn't be like that.) who is head over heels in love with Prussia, hurts. If you're into Foe Yay so much, think of some reasonable explanation (there are quite some possibilities), but don't just brainwash the characters.
So please either make effort and do research, or reconsider your work. - Thanks!

Sorry for the rant! I had to vent my spleen, since it really bugged me for a while now. Now I feel better. Sorry if I was being mean.


Now some funny little anecdote to lift the spirits again:
Some years ago I helped the Leipzig book fair (in Saxony) out a little and they thanked me with a gift. You have three guesses what that could have been... Yes, of course it has to do with coffee. It's a beautiful coffee cup with „Im Osten geht die Sonne auf“ („the sun rises in the east“) written over it.
